Session 2013-04

results of the fourth session in 2013

Dear whisky-distilleries,

The results of the third WDTS session for this year (blind tasting sessions organized by the forum whisky distilleries.info) are published. Please have a look on the results

Again, we tasted six whiskys blind under the favorite conditions of the tasters: at ease at home and at their own pace.
Bottles having participated in this session all come for the majority from independent bottlers. We have rated this time an official bottling (it's a long time we did not get any official bottle to taste... But this Glendronach has not been sent by the distillery or the importer. One participant of the WDTS has taken the initiative to buy tis bottle and to propose it for the tasting. Thanks to him.
For this session the 6 bottles were:
  • Tormore 28 years, Master of Malt
  • Bunnahabhain 38 years, Wilson & Morgan
  • Dailuaine, Whiskybase Archive 1983
  • GlenDronach, Official, Original 12 years
  • Highland Park, 1989 Bourbon hogshead, Malts of Scotland
  • Springbank 19 years, cask #482, Master of Malt
A big thank you to all the producers, importers and bottlers as without them,  WDTS adventure would not exist.
The results are published here: http://www.whisky-distilleries.info/WhiskyWDTS/2013-04/index_EN.shtml. This page provides the overall results. For detailed notes of each of the bottles tasted, simply click on the name of the bottle in the table.

I hope you enjoy reading and hope to come back to you soon with the results of the fifth session for 2013 which will be launched shortly after the summer holiday. I am currently rethinking the way the WDTS are organised, because even if the WDTS project is very interesting for all involved parties, there are some problems to solve in order to make it really reach the original goal: a win-win situation for the consumers and the producers of whisky. One of those challenges is the long period of time between the reception of the bottles and the publication of the results.

The third rum session will be launched soon. Also after the summer holiday...

And do not forget...: In addition to the blind tastings of whisky, a series of sessions dedicated to rum is planned. The third session will be launched after the summer holiday.
Notice to rum producers who are interested in the opinion of whisky drinkers do not hesitate to participate ...

WDTS heavily rely on the producers who agree to send one or more bottles.
In exchange, they can take the advice of tasters. The concept is quite unique WDTS: regular publication of six whiskies tasted by more than 20 participants. The sessions are completely blind.
This publication is done on a site that is much frequented  by whisky lovers...

Producers, do not hesitate to participate. For practical questions, do not hesitate to contact me (info@whisky-distilleries.info)
